Washing heavily soiled windows: our tips

Paper towels are great allie, but when it’s time to wash heavily soiled windows, they sometimes fall short.

Depending on the degree of dirt, you might rather wear yourself out. It would be a shame to use up all the elbow grease you have before you finish your windows.

You can take the services of Premier Janitorial for window cleaning. It is a well-known cleaning services company in Tacoma.

To help you save your energy, our team of professional window cleaners has put together this handy little guide. Discover our top 4 tips for removing clogging and restoring their shine to very dirty windows.

    1. Start with window frames

Good window cleaning starts with maintaining your window frames! To ensure unsurpassed cleanliness, we recommend vacuuming the grooves. This will allow you to remove as much dirt as possible. Then clean with a damp cloth to loosen what has stuck to the frame.

As for the cleaning itself, we recommend warm water and mild soap. If stubborn stains persist, gently dampen a cloth with rubbing alcohol and clean as normal. To prevent leaving traces, change your water on a regular basis.

    2. How to wash heavily soiled windows with dish soap

If you do regular maintenance on your windows, the Windex and paper towels do a very good job. Unfortunately, at one point or another, may you run out of time. If your windows are very dirty, we suggest trying to clean them with a mixture of hot water and dish soap. Hot water will help loosen encrusted dirt, and dish soap will loosen stubborn stains. Then rinse with clean water for a flawless end result.

    3. Get rid of raclette marks

Have you decided to opt for Windex, squeegee, and paper towels? No problem. Unfortunately, when the windows are very dirty, the squeegee may leave marks. To prevent your clean windows from being traced, start by slightly wet the rim of your squeegee. This will make less noise and adhere more easily to the window, which considerably reduces the risk of streaks.

If, there are still traces of the squeegee, use a chamois or a lint-free cloth to clean the traces.

    4. Wash heavily soiled windows and get rid of stains

Is your window stained with grease? Surprisingly, onion has sulfites strong enough to clean grease from windows. You just have to cut an onion in half and rub the grease stains to make them disappear. When these are gone, you can clean your window as you normally would.

Have you just finished painting and accidentally splashed your window? If you notice the stain before it is dry, a sponge, warm water, and mild soap will be sufficient. If it has had time to dry, you will need a rag and ammonia or turpentine to loosen it.

New windows sometimes have stickers. Our window cleaning experts recommend that you soak them in hot water to soften them. Then you can peel them off with a scraper. For sticky residue, you can rub with olive oil and clean as usual.
